Change is long overdue in addiction recovery! Decades of the same addiction recovery programs where relapse seems to run rampant, and successful sobriety is uncommon, it is time for a complete re-evaluation of the fundamentals. In the real world, when something is broken and not working, you fix it, or suffer the consequences. The consequences in this case are all too often death! Making the right choice in Step 3 can be the difference between life or death!

The choice you make in step 3 can easily be the difference between life or death! It will absolutely determine your future sobriety and whether you relapse again or not. Tradition shows that step 3 is where either recovery or relapse begins or ends! Tradition also shows that millions fail at this point in their recovery. The reason is quite obvious, but difficult to see through the thick trees at the edge of the forest! The Step 3 Addiction Recovery program will show you how to find relapse free recovery!

You can spend the rest of your short life stumbling around in the confusion and darkness of the many various addiction recovery 12-step programs, choosing in step 3, “a god of your own understanding” to help you recover, or you can choose "The One True Living God of The Bible", Jesus Christ, and be set free from your addictions now! If you’re tired of relapsing, you can end your addictions today by making the right choice in Step 3!

Addictions have been around since the beginning of time! God called it drunkenness in the beginning of the Old Testament, and man has been unable to conquer it or even control it through today! Yet millions of men and women around the world everyday continue to seek answers and solutions to overcome a problem that doesn’t even exist in the minds of alcoholics and addicts! Denial! Alcoholics and addicts are in total denial, and will not hear a word you or I say, or read a word we write until the wall of denial has been torn down or broken through.

Most alcoholics and addicts begin their journey in addictions by using drugs and alcohol to escape reality. Their insecurity doesn’t allow them to face their trials and tribulations, and causes them to enter a state of denial to keep them from seeing reality and the truth. Denial is a form of self deception, and as soon as reality disappears, denial takes over. The false deception becomes their reality.  "By the very nature of deception, a man doesn't know when he is being deceived, or when he is deceiving himself"! Drunkenness and denial will deceive and cover-up the reality of the insecurity and fear that many alcoholics and addicts experience. Denial becomes the truth in every aspect of an alcoholics and addicts life. And no one can convince them that the lie and life that they’ve chosen to live needs to change. All truth and reality disappear.

 After over 30 years of sobriety, and being involved in various segments of addiction recovery programs, after writing 2 books, creating several websites and programs, blog sites, Facebook pages, and attending 1000’s of 12-step meetings where I’ve listened to tens of thousands of alcoholics and addicts’ testimonies, I’ve come to the conclusion that the most significant common factor in addictions and relapse is denial, and the inability to recognize and overcome it! Denial is the outcome of knowing right from wrong, or good and evil, and refusing to accept the reality of being or doing wrong and evil. I've seen people passed out in puddles of their own puke regain enough consciousness to mumble the words, "I don't have a problem"! Until denial is conquered there can be no recovery!

The decision a person makes in Step 3 of any 12-step addiction recovery program, is one of life or death consequences! Creating a “God of your own understanding” will have deadly consequences!

Because The Bible says so!

Sadly, a person must discover how dark the world can be, before they can see how bright the light of Jesus can be! Alcoholics and addicts live in the darkest depths of the world until Jesus reveals and shines His light on them! He is the only GOD we should choose to follow in step 3! He tells us throughout His Word that He is the only GOD, and that no other God is to be worshiped! Exodus 34:14 “Do not worship any other god, because I, the Lord, tolerate no rivals. 1 Corinthians 8:6 (NIV) “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

And finally brothers and sisters, here is why we consistently stumble and relapse when we arrive at Step 3 in secular, 12-step addiction recovery programs, and create an imaginary “god of our own understanding,”…
WORSHIPING OTHER GODS; Deuteronomy 13:1-3;
1 "If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul."

The miracle we are seeking in the 12-steps of addiction recovery cannot be delivered by a false, powerless god! There is only One GOD who performs miracles! Choose Him today, and be set free from your addictions tomorrow!
